Horizon Huskies
DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP GAME for 2008------

Horizon took on Salpointe looking to avenge their only league defeat of the year with the Division II title on the line. Adam Schubert opened the scoring for Huskies after both teams scrambled to get going. The Lancers answered with two quick goals, and led 3-1 late in the 1st when Horizon scored two goals in 15 seconds to tie. The Huskies found their rhythm, leading at the half 6-4 and stretching the lead to 8-4 in the early third. Salpointe fought back, finally tying the game at 8-8 with 11 minutes left in the fourth. Matt Bolin scored to make it 9-8 with just under 8 minutes left, and the two team battled for the next 5 minutes for possession after Horizon successfully killed back-to-back penalties, but struggled to clear the ball. The Lancers tied it at 9 with 3 minutes to go, and after several amazing saves by Brandon Warshawsky took the lead with 1:26 remaining. The Huskies managed to get possession with 36 seconds remaining, but couldn't get the tying goal.
Leading Horizon were Adam Schubert with 3 goals and an assist, Eric Laub with one goal and three assists, Matt Bolin and Kyle Lapointe with two goals each, and defenseman Rob Morrow added a fast break goal. Outstanding performances by middies MC Nelson, Chris Campbell, and Andrew Harter put Horizon in a position to win, and Nick Nabours filled in admirably for missing captain JD Souder. Congratulations to Salpointe, and the 2009 Huskies on their remarkable season-the best ever for a Horizon team.
